Shropshire arts venue the Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury has welcomed the latest individual to join the centre’s buzzing friend’s scheme – but latest recruit Norman is of a rather unique nature to others!
Known fondly by numerous residents and businesses alike, Norman is a local feline who is renowned throughout the Belmont area of the town for his roving adventures and mischievous antics.
The high-flying cat has rapidly become a frequent visitor to the Hive, infiltrating everything from meetings through to taiko drumming workshops. He has even taken to the stage for a debut drumming solo with an international jazz star and with such a keen enthusiasm for the Hive, his owner has felt it only right that Norman becomes an official friend of the charitable organisation.
Habib Malik-Mansell, Marketing Assistant at the Hive said “Norman really is living proof that the Hive is the place to be in Shrewsbury town centre. If there’s anything new happening or a gathering of people, Norman is always keen to ensure that he is part of the action and with such a diverse variety of cultural activities taking place at the centre on a regular basis, there is always something new to discover!”
Sheila Sager, Norman’s owner added “We are happy to have Norman join the Friends of the Hive as the Hive is a great neighbour. The people there are welcoming of all ages and backgrounds, including furry friends and we are happy that he is supporting an organisation with both his time and money. The work the Hive does demonstrates how everyone in the community benefits…even Norman from not only the concerts but also the art, languages, and classes that they offer. With all this in mind, the Friend scheme is a great bargain!”
The Hive’s friend’s scheme offers people the opportunity to support the Hive’s valued work with young people whilst benefitting from a range of exciting privileges. More information can be found by visiting www.hiveonline.org.uk/friends/
